Lake Success, NY (November 20, 2014) – The nation’s leading provider of legal administration services, The Garden City Group, Inc. (GCG), is pleased to announce that Shandarese Garr will assume the company’s newly-created position of vice president of diversity and inclusion. In this role, Garr will collaborate with GCG’s internal and external stakeholders to develop tools to enable innovation, performance and business growth.
“Given Shandy’s experience and in-depth industry knowledge, she is exactly the right person to continue GCG’s commitment in this regard,” said David Isaac, GCG’s CEO. “Embracing diversity and inclusion has been an essential component in the way we do business for the past 30 years, and it will continue to be so going forward.”
2014 marks Garr’s 25th year with GCG. During that time she has served in pivotal roles, starting as a claims processor; advancing to ultimately lead the company’s class action team in its Lake Success, New York headquarters for more than a decade; managing GCG’s Midwest call and processing center in Dublin, Ohio; and managing the company’s Louisiana Operations Facility. Garr has been a member of GCG’s senior management team for over ten years.
“GCG works very hard to maximize the contributions of all employees, which creates diverse working environments in its locations around the country, and I am a prime example of that commitment,” said Garr. “For my entire tenure at GCG, the company has had a culture of inclusiveness that contributes positively not only to its employees’ work experience, but also to the company’s operations and productivity. I am excited about serving in this important new role that touches everything we do as a company.”
Neil Zola, GCG’s President, commented “GCG is committed to conducting business with the highest level of integrity,” he said. “As a company, we are enriched by the diverse thoughts, ideas, opinions and backgrounds that our team brings to the table on every project. Our culture of inclusion drives the best results for our clients.”
Garr has served on the Board of Directors for MFY Legal Services, Inc., as the Administrator of the National Association of Securities and Consumer Attorneys, was interviewed by CNN in 2013 in an article discussing the diversity of GCG’s senior management team, and has been identified as an executive to watch by Black Enterprise magazine.
