Lorri E. Staal

As an Assistant Vice President of GCG’s East Coast Operations, Lorri Staal oversees many complex and high-profile class action settlement and regulatory administrations. She has particular expertise in programs that require extensive and detailed analyses of complicated data, and has successfully set up efficient processes for the intake and analysis of claims in complex administrations that result in distributions to hundreds of thousands of participants. These engagements regularly include government and regulatory settlements such as: the United States Department of Justice forfeiture actions necessitating close work with staff from several different federal offices to develop data sets with victim contact and loss information for mailings and claim filings; insurance regulatory matters that require numerous custom reports as directed by clients as well as state regulators; mortgage-related insurance matters involving the New York State Department of Finance, which require the review of extensive mortgage-related documentation submitted by claimants and personalized follow-up with claimants; and numerous SEC Fair Fund administrations that require close work with SEC staff as well as defendants and court-appointed tax administrators. Ms. Staal also regularly handles matters with local government entities and regulatory agencies, including the New York Attorney General’s Office. She also played a key role in the $20 billion Gulf Coast Claims Facility, having set up and overseen the distribution of more than $6 billion to 300,000 claimants.

Ms. Staal has been at GCG since 2008. She regularly draws on her two decades of experience litigating highly complex class action and bankruptcy matters at several large Wall Street firms. She also clerked for the Honorable Judge I. Leo Glasser in the Eastern District of New York.
