As a Director of Operations and an attorney, Lorna Lightfoot-Ware is responsible for overseeing the Legal Review Distribution teams for several of GCG’s most complex legal administration matters.  Ms. Lightfoot-Ware’s particular expertise lies in her ability to assess the needs of unique and challenging cases, and then leverage resources and develop efficient processes to satisfy the requirements of those cases, as well as increase class member participation.

Ms. Lightfoot-Ware oversaw all phases of GCG’s scope of responsibility in the $300 million settlement ($235 million medical monitoring fund) of the DuPont C-8 Medical Monitoring Program. Key to the success of this program was Ms. Lightfoot-Ware’s ability to work with the local water districts to both establish the processes required to confirm eligibility and increase class member participation. As well, Ms. Lightfoot-Ware assisted in the planning and logistics for town hall meetings where she interfaced with class members and provided on-site claims intake.

Ms. Lightfoot-Ware has also played an important role in creating and implementing efficient processes for GCG’s handling of other very specialized matters, including the $20 billion Gulf Coast Claims Facility and the $10.3 billion BP Deepwater Horizon Settlement.  For the Deepwater Horizon Settlement, Ms. Lightfoot-Ware’s legal team created the process for the legal review of audits to make payments in accordance with the Settlement Agreement.  Her team was also integral to establishing and ensuring compliance with rules regarding legal representation, including the resolution of conflicts between attorneys.

Prior to taking on an operations role in 2015, Ms. Lightfoot-Ware spent four years as GCG’s Senior Assistant General Counsel, where she gained an in-depth understanding of GCG’s business practices through handling a wide range of corporate matters, including Unclaimed Property and escheatment, Master Services, vendor, escheatment, and marketing agreements.  She further assisted GCG’s General Counsel in managing the company’s licensing, sponsorship, marketing and Intellectual Property concerns, including copyright law, rights, trademark registration, contract drafting and negotiation.
