Drawing upon her experience at GCG handling more than 125 class action administrations totaling more than $20 billion in settlement value, Lori Castaneda oversees GCG’s company-wide Business Development team and is responsible for the execution of the company’s long-term strategy for growth, while ensuring seamless client transitions of new engagements. Known for her in-depth knowledge of complex class action settlements and her particular experience handling administrations involving large and cumbersome databases, she is frequently called upon to consult with prospective clients to identify innovative solutions for their new settlements or projects.

Prior to assuming her Business Development role, Ms. Castaneda managed Operations in GCG’s Seattle office, where she oversaw a team of over 45 attorneys and 70 other professionals working on the hundreds of cases handled in that office. Over the years, Ms. Castaneda has been particularly instrumental in handling over 80 large consumer class actions, over 10 significant antitrust litigation settlements, and more than 30 wage & hour settlements. Among the consumer administrations, she has played a key role in the historical $3.4 billion administration of the Cobell v. Salazar Indian Trust Settlement, in which she worked closely with both plaintiffs’ counsel and the Department of Justice. She managed the extensive class member outreach program, the processing and determination of approximately 485,000 claims, the coordination of the Special Master’s appeal process, and the distribution of over $1.2 billion.  In addition, she has been involved in the Classmates.com administration (over 57 million notices sent; 700,000 claims processed) and Time Warner Cable (7 million notices sent; 480,000 claims processed). She also manages several of GCG’s larger antitrust administrations, including In re Air Cargo Shipping Services Antitrust Litigation which is set to distribute over $845 million to class members.  Her other recent cases include the Careathers v. Red Bull North America consumer class action, Arthur et al. v. Sallie Mae, Inc. TCPA class action settlement, the Taulava v. Bank of Hawaii bank overdraft fee case, and Georgia Tuttle, M.D, et al. v. New Hampshire Medical Malpractice Joint Underwriting Association, for which she led a team that handled administration activities during class certification and after final judgment.

Before joining GCG in 2010, Ms. Castaneda spent over 20 years handling the administration of corporate expansion efforts and mergers and acquisitions. She also handled secured transactions for Fortune 500 companies and has extensive experience with the finance industry, handling transactional matters for some of the world’s largest banking institutions.
