As Chief Information Officer, Janet Brown is responsible for GCG’s Systems & Technology strategy and vision, and the nearly 100 technology specialists dedicated to serving the IT needs of GCG’s clients. As Chief Information Officer, Janet Brown is responsible for GCG’s Systems & Technology strategy and vision, and the nearly 100 technology specialists dedicated to serving the IT needs of GCG’s clients. With more than 20 years of IT management experience in various claims industries, Ms. Brown leads all aspects of GCG’s information technology, information security, data and analytics.  She is also responsible for supporting the growth of GCG’s global business by partnering with our business units to deliver best in class technology for GCG’s programs, administrations, and clients.

In her capacity as CIO, Ms. Brown builds on GCG’s on-going commitment to developing market-leading, cutting-edge technology solutions for our technical infrastructure, the security and protection of all interfaces, and the ongoing implementation of IT policies and procedures.  Her team is an integral part of GCG’s hundreds of active legal administration projects across all offices and service lines, and collaborates with our Executive, Operations, Notice, Legal, and Fraud Prevention and Compliance teams to develop and launch state-of-the-art, secure databases and claim systems customized to client needs, project deliverables, and the legal demands of each case.  The solutions Ms. Brown and her team design and execute also comport with the standards of handling sensitive data and personally identifiable information as identified by the AICPA Trust Services Principles, as well as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”).

Prior to joining Garden City Group, Ms. Brown spent nearly 20 years in the healthcare and insurance claims industries, most recently serving as the Vice President for IT Applications and Shared Services and Director of Strategic Services at Premera Blue Cross, an affiliate of Blue Cross Blue Shield, where her team of 250 IT professionals consistently delivered complex projects of all sizes on schedule and on budget. Ms. Brown previously held the role of IT Director for Liberty Mutual Group where she was responsible for Lean Strategy, Quality Management, and various IT Applications for all internal and business systems.

Ms. Brown served in the U.S. Marine Corps on active duty from 1985-1989.  She is on the board of the Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center and has volunteered internationally in Thailand and Costa Rica.
