Betsy Alaniz
Deputy General Counsel and Deputy Manager, West Coast Operations

Betsy Alaniz joined GCG in July 2006 and is based at the firm's Seattle office. As GCG's Deputy General Counsel, Ms. Alaniz provides counsel to all levels of executive staff and business operations. As Deputy Manager of West Coast Regional Operations, she works with the Senior Vice President & Managing Director to manage all aspects of GCG’s Seattle office and projects administered by GCG. Her substantial expertise in complex litigation and management skills reflect GCG’s commitment to provide high quality, cost-effective services to clients and claimants on a nationwide basis.

Ms. Alaniz spent fifteen years practicing at Perkins Coie LLP in Seattle. As partner in the firm's commercial litigation group, she focused extensively on complex class action litigation, settlement, and settlement implementation with an emphasis in the area of trade regulation, consumer protection, and antitrust.

Ms. Alaniz received her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law with highest distinction, and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Economics from Bryn Mawr College. In addition, she earned an M.B.A from the University of Iowa and a Master's degree in Communications and Public Affairs from the University of Oregon. She has been admitted to practice in Washington, the United States District Court: Eastern District of Washington; Western District of Washington, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
